Vegetable tanned natural leather should be maintained with the dry cloth only as it's not water resistant. Using water and cleansers can cause color damage and the loss of antibacterial and antiallergic properties and the material can be stiffened. Chrome free leather shoes are intended for dry weather conditions. If it does happen that the material gets wet and stiffens, you can use coconut or olive oil to soften it. Since the leather wasn't chrome tanned, there is a possibility of atmospheric conditions affecting its color change.
